Sometimes when you are away from home you miss the things you are used to....like a 24 hour supermarket (I LOVE Asda Gosforth) or a Chinese Restaurant (all you can eat like Mr.Lau's mmm), or even your parents and the family dog.
I have lived in Corfu for the grand total of about 4 months now and I do miss home, even though my new home is really beautiful and lovely, I still miss the smelly old streets of Newcastle.
To remind me of home I have recently started watching my Catherine Cookson DVD box set, and have been totally hooked on the stories. They are so good! Who knew Newcastle had so many shady characters (!) and good looking farmers (!).
A place that reminds me of the UK is Marks and Spencer's in Corfu Town. Which when you walk in is exactly like any M&S in the UK. They even have a food bit now and I bought some 'Christmas Tea Bags' which don't taste at all Christmas like, just a normal cup of tea. I was slightly 'gutted' (Newcastle slang for upset).
The packaging on their organic tea bag boxes is very pretty though and I had to have the green tea alone for the box.
I'm off to watch the end of 'The Girl' now by Catherine Cookson...I might treat myself to 'The Fifteen Streets' next .. Sean Bean is in that one!
