Yay! It’s time to decorate for Christmas!
While my favourite kind of Christmas decorations has a Nordic, traditional feel, I do love to have fresh greens in the house too.
I can remember going on woodland walks with my mum and cutting sprigs of holly, then decorating the house with our loot when we went home.
We would tie gold baubles with red velvet ribbons hanging from the curtain poles and place twinkling lights in the windows.
We also placed mistletoe in the entryway, I’m not sure if she was hoping to kiss my dad on his way in or out of the door, but the only kisses I ever got there were from the dog!
I always want our home to have a handmade vibe, and I like to make my own Christmas decorations. I spend a lot of my time looking for Christmas craft ideas on Pinterest.
I like to make my own Christmas decorations, like stitched felt stockings with cute buttons sewn on and added oversized red and white poms.
I knitted a Christmas stocking last year with intricate cables, in a dark red colour, then filled with little chocolates for my beloved!
This year we have gone for a more minimal look, as we are flying to the UK to spend Christmas with my parents.
They are so excited already, they are counting down the days. I can’t wait to go home for Christmas! I haven’t been home in over a year now and it feels like forever.
One of the best places to get all of your Nordic style Christmas decorations is Ikea!
With their chic minimalistic decor, anyone can make their home look magazine shoot worthy, all within a good budget.
I really miss living within an easy drive of Ikea. I like how they manage to combine their modern looking Christmas decor with handmade bits and bobs too.
Like the light blue pom garland in one of the photos.
