Continuing with the Harry Potter knitwear theme, here is a Gryffindor dog cowl that has been made specifically for my dog Jason.

Doesn’t he just look super cute in the photos?!

Jason is just such a wannabe Weasley! He has the right colouring and suits the Gryffindor house colours perfectly.

We have been watching the Harry Potter movies on and off over the last couple of months, whenever it is a stormy, rainy day we snuggle with a blanket and watch Harry Potter together.

Well, I watch and Jason sleeps, so I thought he would really suit a dog sweater and a cowl knit in this lovely yarn called Hollyhocks (Hayfield Super Chunky With Wool in shade 0053 ).

I had some leftovers of mustard yarn that I used for the stripes.

This is a really simple, easy knitting pattern that will look awesome on your pawgeous pup!

Dog Cowl Knitting Pattern

This chunky knitted ‘Gryffindor’ dog cowl is an easy pattern to follow, knit mainly on circular needles. It has two stripes of mustard yarn and is knit in stockinette stitch.

Knit with 12mm (US 17) circular knitting needles and chunky yarn, the cowl is a good pattern for beginner knitters as well as the more experienced.

You could even adapt it to fit a human – just measure your own neck and add a few inches and you can easily wear this yourself or give to any Harry Potter fans you know.

If you would like to make more knitted items for your dog, please take a look at the other patterns in the pet knitting pattern library.

Notes

Measurements >

I measured the circumference of Jason’s neck and it measured 17″

I cast on 36 stitches so that it had a bit of stretch to be able to fit over his head and allow him to breathe.

If you measure your dog’s neck and then cast on the number of stitches to that size, adding a couple extra for stretch.

He has the perfect colouring for this shade of yarn and he could fit right into Hogwarts, although I think that he would be a better fit as a prisoner in Azkaban.

Even they would probably kick him out for bad behaviour!
