Flat Knit Hat Pattern

I used a lovely light blue cotton from Rico design for the pattern, but any baby cotton will knit up well.

I normally like to knit hats on circular needles, as I find it easier and there is no seaming, however, this hat is knit flat on straight needles, then joined at the seam.

I used mattress stitch to join the seam and this hid the join quite well.

Baby Hat Knitting Pattern

This baby hat knitting pattern is a great pattern for beginners or anyone who prefers to knit hats flat.

I normally like to knit hats in the round, as I just find it easier and there is no seaming at the end. However, when I seamed this baby hat I used a simple flat seam and it was hidden really well.

The knit baby hat was made with a light blue cotton from Rico – Rico Cotton Aran and they have many different shades.

I think it would look good in any colour, you could even add a different colour for the rolled brim or knit one in stripes.
