Hi makers! Today is our last day and we visited Casa Batllo - designed by Antoni Gaudi. We decided to go and see the outside of the building and not the inside. We wanted to fit in other stuff today, so just had a look at the house from the street. The house of bones (as it is known) has a roof shaped like a dragons back and balconies that look like skulls, to symbolise the dragons victims.
Here are some photographs below, I love the use of colours and textures in Gaudi's work;
Next we visited the Picasso Museum and enjoyed the collections on view. The special exhibition of Dali and Picasso's work side by side was interesting. I enjoyed the building also, which is a beautiful Spanish Palace, transformed in a gallery space.
The quality of line is stunning in the portraits, with characters captured with skill, using fluid lines and mixed media.
After the Picasso Museum, we stopped for a cold drink and then made our way to the zoo. We made it to the zoo in time for the dolphin show an then spent a good 3 hours walking around. There were so many animals to see and it was really good. My favourite animals were the meerkats and the anteater.
We actually found a Greek place to eat on the way back to the metro and it was so good! I know I'm bias but the food was really tasty and there was something cool about hearing the Greek language again. After that we rested for a while at the hotel before packing and waving goodbye to Barcelona. We have a late flight, so will be back in Corfu early tomorrow morning. I'm looking forward to a rest this weekend - lying by the pool!
What are you doing this weekend?
