You will see oversized knits, in all hues and yarn weights, as some designers are making super soft and warm pieces that will keep you toasty warm and on-trend.
Some of the more cutting-edge designers are inputting asymmetry and fringe details, while others are focussing on traditional elements, like hand-knitted pieces.

Knitwear Trends 2018
There are many designers who are at the forefront of these design trends, including Greek label OneonOne who have looked back to the 1970s for inspiration.
Susana Bettencourt has gone with modern folk geometric motifs, to mix the old with the new.
All knitwear and Italian label Vitelli have incorporated more psychedelic geometric patterns with neon hues to appeal to a younger crowd.

VITELLI
Based in Milan, these Italian designers have their garments made by independent knitters and use the best quality Italian yarns.
Looking at both psychedelic geometric patterns and neon hues these pieces have taken youth culture as well as the 1970’s as inspiration.
MAIAMI
Maiami is a knitwear label based in Berlin, owned by Maike Dietrich.
Their latest pieces which are huge mohair clouds of cosiness, look like they are timeless pieces that will be worn in future seasons.
This collection really inspires me and I want to include a mohair sweater into my own fall/winter 2018 collection of knitting patterns.
ONEONONE
OneonOne is a Greek label that created stunning hand-knit items.
Based in Athens, Greece, they share their passion for knitting with many who share their love for traditional crafts.
They create bespoke garments that are sold in many high-end boutiques around the world.
I’m enjoying their playful use of texture and pattern while creating something that almost has an architectural quality.
SUSANA BETTENCOURT
This designer is mixing new technology and the digital with traditional crafts.
This year sees her collection merging modern folk geometric motifs with a range of colours, including some neutrals.
While the patterns may seem bold and strong due to their use of colour, the designs are pushing boundaries in knitwear.
ALL KNITWEAR
This designer brand has colour at the forefront!
Created by Annie Larson in 2010, the knitted pieces are an explosion of colour and an exploration of pattern.
Part of the brand’s design philosophy is that all of the knit pieces are one of a kind and are made only when ordered.
The designer makes all of the pieces herself in her studio and sends them to people all over the world.
Do you have a favourite yet?
I am mostly in love with the collection of garments from Maiami, as their fluffy mohair sweaters look so huge and cosy, perfect for those colder months ahead.
I feel really inspired by their work and want to design an oversized sweater for my own fall/winter knitting pattern collection.
I have already had some thoughts about this, perhaps knitting it up in a neutral colour like brown, grey or maybe even cream.
There are so many good mohair yarns to choose from too, like Lion Brand or Rowan.
