How To Measure Your Dog’s Neck

For the perfect fit, start by measuring your dog’s neck using a soft measuring tape or by measuring their current collar.

Add an extra 8-12 inches to this measurement, allowing enough length to tie the scarf comfortably into a cute knot.

For reference, the large-sized scarf my dog is wearing in the photos measures 38 inches from tip to tip.

Materials Needed:

Drops Nepal yarn (or similar worsted weight yarn) – 1 ball (in Olive)
Crochet Hook – size 5 mm / US H-8
Yarn needle (for weaving in ends)
Scissors
Tape measure

Gauge:

14 single crochet stitches x 16 rows = 4 inches.

ch – Chain
sc – Single crochet
sc2tog – single crochet the next two stitches together (to decrease)

Dog Scarf Crochet Pattern

Begin: Chain 3.

Increase Section:

Row 1: Single crochet (sc) in second chain from hook and next chain, turn. (2 sc)
Row 2: Chain 1, 2 sc in first stitch, single crochet across, 2 sc in last stitch, turn. (Increases by 2 sc each row)

Repeat Row 2 until you have 11 stitches (or 15 stitches for larger scarves or larger dogs).

Middle Section:

Repeat Row 1 until scarf measures approximately 15-25 inches, depending on your dog’s size.

Decrease Section:
