Capsule Wardrobe
If you are looking to create a capsule wardrobe for your pregnancy, and have been finding it difficult knowing how to style your blossoming baby bump take a look at my other posts on building a capsule wardrobe during pregnancy.
I have been searching (in another post) for amazing finds for your capsule wardrobe during pregnancy, with key pieces that will see you through spring, summer and beyond.
I have selected some must-have items that will keep you looking amazing but are also easy to wear.
Here is a breakdown of what you will need to create a summer maternity capsule wardrobe >
Maternity Summer Dress
A couple of light, flowing maternity dresses in natural fabrics and neutral colours will always look good!
You can also look for some exotic prints for beach holidays.
These dresses will be dressed up with the addition of bold accessories (like a chunky necklace and gold gladiators) or for more casual look wear with a classic sun hat and flip-flops.
Empire waist maxi dresses are such a good look for summer maternity fashion.
Non-maternity dresses that aren’t nipped at the waist, will have plenty of room for your bump!
Lightweight Maternity Pants
Lightweight, cropped maternity pants are a great way to stay cool and look stylish in the summer.
Think cotton or linen in a Capri length that lets the breeze brush your legs.
There are some great styles out there, from neutral colours to bold floral patterns.
Go for styles with a narrow stretchy panel up top, the kind that rides under your belly, rather than a panel that hikes over your bump (they’re binding and hot).
Skirts and Shorts
Skirts and shorts with stretchy or drawstring waistbands are great for exploring on hot summer days or hanging out at the beach.
Shorts or skirts you have that used to rest closer to your waist, might still be ok to wear if they can sit comfortably under your bump.
Pair them with a fitted tee or vest, so your outfit shows off your shape.
T-Shirts and Tanks
Extra-long tank tops and T-shirts are a must-have for any summer maternity wardrobe.
Rather than struggling with (and stretching out) your non-maternity tops, buy some inexpensive cotton tanks and tees in basic colours, a size or two up.
Make sure you try before you buy, to ensure a good fit.
There are some great summer styles out there, with pretty white cotton boho shirts being one of my all-time favourites!
Swimwear
Maternity swimwear can come in all sorts of styles, from pretty bikinis to swimsuits with maximum support.
Whichever style you go for, team it with some pretty accessories like jewellery, a hat and sunglasses!
