With summer outdoor living being almost around the corner and beautiful weather simply calling for us to spend our days at the beach, it can be quite depressing if you live nowhere near any sort of beach you can enjoy.

However, instead of feeling sorry for yourself and secretly hating all those people who live on a beach, you can go the other way and bring a beach to your backyard!

But, with so many beautiful beaches to choose from, how do you decide on the design? Easy, really!

When deciding, don’t just focus on creating a sandy surface close to a water feature.

Instead, take into account all the things you like about the culture that surrounds that beach and go from there.

For instance, one of the prettiest ways to go is to aim at creating a stunning Greek beach vibe right in your own backyard.

Make a “sandbox” for adults

First of all, you can really create a beach vibe in your backyard without some sand.

However, sand can be quite tricky as it is very light and even the slightest wind can easily scatter it virtually everywhere.

That’s why you should consider creating an adult sandbox of sorts.

Outdoor Ideas

Designate an area in your backyard where you want to install this sandy feature and make sure that it is big enough so that you can layout some towels and enjoy the sun.

Start off by laying down a heavy vinyl landscape fabric and secure it in place with landscape fabric clips.

Outline your sandbox area with colorful stones or natural wooden logs to make it more beautiful.

If you want, you can even install a fire pit in this area for some cosy flair.

Create ambience with lighting

Next, to set the mood in your backyard once the sun goes down you should fill it with different lighting solutions.

Solar lights are an excellent choice if you want to outline the pathways and the sandbox but you do not want the light to be too overwhelming.

Next, hang some outdoor string fairy lights on the trees or, if you don’t have any, you can string them on your fence and around your porch rail.

Finally, you can hang lanterns on your patio or porch, and even add some tiki torches around your backyard not only to boost the mood but to ward off the unwanted insects as well.

Choose the right color scheme

Now, since you are aiming at creating a Greek beach vibe, you definitely can’t miss the opportunity to fill your yard with their staple blue and white color scheme and invite at least a hint of Santorini in your outdoor space.

If you want to go all-in, you can even consider painting your house exterior white and framing your windows and doors with that staple blue shade.

However, if you are looking for a more subtle approach, consider adding knitted chair pads or throws onto your outdoor patio furniture in those colors and even filling your yard with some blue and white flowers.

Designate an area for cooling off

Furthermore, once you’ve created your own little personal beach area, it is time to add some water feature to the design, so that you have a place to relax and cool off after all the sunbathing.

Browse various outdoor spas and swim spas to find the design and the size you are happy with and choose the perfect place in your yard to install it in.

By adding such a feature to your backyard, you will easily create a true beach vibe and have your little piece of shore you can enjoy any time you feel like it.

Finally, the best part is that an outdoor spa will significantly boost the value of your property on the market, which is excellent news if you ever decide to sell your home.

Implement all the right furniture pieces

Once all the base elements of the design are in place, you should equip your yard with the right type of outdoor living furniture.

Since you are going with the beach vibe, you should look into foldable beach lounge chairs, small beach tables and some sort of either beach sails or umbrellas.

However, if you want to make it a lasting design, avoid plastic furniture and go for pieces made of wood or any other durable material to ensure their longevity.

As you can see, creating a Greek-inspired beach vibe in your backyard is easier than you think.

Aside from the outdoor spa, all other elements are easy to DIY and are quite cheap to obtain, so going for this project won’t break your bank but it will leave you with an amazing outdoor space.

And the best thing is that you won’t have to spend a lot of money or take any days off work every time you feel like hitting the beach – you can simply step outside and enjoy it virtually every single day.
