Sweet Violets Lace Dishcloth Knitting Pattern
THIS ARTICLE CONTAINS AFFILIATE LINKS THAT SUPPORT HANDY LITTLE ME CONTENT AND FREE PATTERNS.Looking for a lace dishcloth that feels soft, romantic, and a little whimsical?
Sweet Violets is knit in Lilac cotton and features a flowing lace texture with a gentle floral feel, pretty on the counter, but still practical for everyday use.
The stitch pattern has enough variety to stay interesting, but it’s built on a repeat you’ll settle into quickly.
And once you block it, the lace opens up beautifully, giving the finished dishcloth a crisp, polished look.

Inspired by Bridgerton
This pattern is part of my Bridgerton-inspired dishcloth collection, where each design is paired with a cotton yarn shade chosen to match the mood of the series: crisp neutrals, soft pastels, garden greens, and rich jewel tones.
Most of the patterns feature lace textures and easy repeats, making them quick, relaxing projects to knit while you watch the show, and a fun way to learn new stitch patterns as you go.
It’s a simple way to add a little Regency-style charm to everyday knitting.

Before You Get Started
- Skill Level – Easy (Advanced beginner)
- This dishcloth is worked flat with a garter stitch border to keep the edges tidy.
- The lace is formed with yarn overs and paired decreases (k2tog and ssk). If you’re new to lace, it helps to count stitches at the end of each right-side pattern row.
- The pattern is worked over a 12-row repeat, with calm wrong-side rows in between.
- Wet blocking is recommended to open up the lace and square the dishcloth.

FAQ
Is this dishcloth suitable for lace beginners?
Yes, if you’re comfortable with knit and purl and you can follow a repeat, you can do this.
The wrong-side rows are simple, and the lace is built from basic yarn overs and decreases.
My stitch count is off – where should I check first?
Most stitch-count hiccups in lace happen around yarn overs or decreases.
On the right-side rows, make sure every yarn over is paired with the correct decrease in the repeat.
Do I really need to block it?
Blocking makes a huge difference for lace. It opens up the pattern and helps the cloth sit neatly square, especially helpful for cotton.
Can I buy this pattern to print out?
Yes! You can get a printable version in a bundle with all 10 patterns in the collection.
