Society Pages Lace Dishcloth Knitting Pattern

THIS ARTICLE CONTAINS AFFILIATE LINKS THAT SUPPORT HANDY LITTLE ME CONTENT AND FREE PATTERNS.

Looking for a lace dishcloth that’s quick, satisfying, and not too complicated?

Society Pages uses the Purse Stitch, a simple two-row repeat that creates a neat, open texture with tiny dimples from the very first inch.

Knit in Drops Paris cotton in the bright Wasabi shade, it’s fresh, modern, and very “garden party at the Featheringtons” (in the best way).

The cotton keeps the texture crisp and airy, so the finished cloth dries quickly and feels great to use.

Inspired by Bridgerton

This pattern is part of my Bridgerton-inspired dishcloth collection, where each design is paired with a cotton yarn shade chosen to match the mood of the series: crisp neutrals, soft pastels, garden greens, and rich jewel tones.

Most of the patterns feature lace textures and easy repeats, making them quick, relaxing projects to knit while you watch the show, and a fun way to learn new stitch patterns as you go.

It’s a simple way to add a little Regency-style charm to everyday knitting.

You can get a printable version in a bundle with all 10 patterns in the collection.

Before You Get Started

  • Skill Level – Easy (Advanced beginner)
  • This pattern is a short, repeating two-row sequence, great for relaxing knitting and easy to memorize.
  • The texture comes from pairing yarn overs with a decrease (ssk). If you’ve never done ssk before, don’t worry, it becomes second nature quickly.
  • Because this cloth has an open lace texture, try not to pull your yarn overs too tight.
  • Wet blocking helps the fabric relax and makes the lace holes look more even.

FAQ

Is Purse Stitch beginner-friendly?

Yes, this is a great first lace pattern because it’s only two rows and repeats the same simple steps.

Once you’ve done a couple of repeats, you’ll likely be able to knit it without constantly checking the instructions.

Why are Row 1 and Row 2 the same?

That’s what gives Purse Stitch its tidy, repeating texture.

You get the lace effect without needing separate “rest” rows, so it grows quickly and stays interesting the whole way through.

Will this lace texture still work well for a dishcloth?

Definitely. In cotton, the fabric stays sturdy, and the open texture helps it dry quickly.

It’s also a nice choice if you like a dishcloth that feels a little lighter and more flexible.

Can I buy this pattern to print out?

Yes! You can get a printable version in a bundle with all 10 patterns in the collection.
