Secret Garden Lace Dishcloth Knitting Pattern

THIS ARTICLE CONTAINS AFFILIATE LINKS THAT SUPPORT HANDY LITTLE ME CONTENT AND FREE PATTERNS.

Looking for a lace dishcloth that feels calm, elegant, and not too fussy?

Secret Garden Lace is knit in Moss Green cotton and features a flowing, leaf-inspired lace motif framed by a neat garter stitch border.

The repeating pattern is relaxing to work once you’ve knit it a couple of times, and the sturdy cotton yarn makes the finished cloth absorbent and practical for everyday use.

If you’re knitting a Bridgerton-themed set, this is the perfect “garden moment” dishcloth, fresh, leafy, and a beautiful contrast to the blush and cream shades.

Inspired by Bridgerton

This pattern is part of my Bridgerton-inspired dishcloth collection, where each design is paired with a cotton yarn shade chosen to match the mood of the series: crisp neutrals, soft pastels, garden greens, and rich jewel tones.

Most of the patterns feature lace textures and easy repeats, making them quick, relaxing projects to knit while you watch the show, and a fun way to learn new stitch patterns as you go.

It’s a simple way to add a little Regency-style charm to everyday knitting.

You can get a printable version in a bundle with all 10 patterns in the collection.

Before You Get Started

  • Skill Level – Easy (Advanced beginner)
  • This pattern is worked flat, with garter-stitch borders and a lace panel in the center.
  • The lace is created with yarn overs paired with decreases (k2tog and ssk). If you’re newer to lace, it helps to pause at the end of each right-side row and quickly count your stitches.
  • The wrong-side rows are simple, which makes this a relaxing lace pattern once you find your rhythm.
  • Wet blocking is recommended to open up the lace and help the dishcloth sit square.

FAQ

Is this lace pattern suitable for newer knitters?

Yes, if you’re comfortable with knit and purl, you can absolutely tackle this.

The lace happens on the right-side rows, and the wrong-side rows are straightforward, which makes it easier to settle into the repeat.

What does blocking do for lace?

Blocking helps the yarn overs open up and makes the stitch pattern look crisp and defined.

It also helps the cloth relax into a neat square shape, especially helpful for cotton.

Will one ball of yarn be enough?

One ball of Drops Paris is typically enough for a 10 x 10 inch dishcloth, with a little extra for the optional hanging loop.

Can I buy this pattern to print out?

Yes! You can get a printable version in a bundle with all 10 patterns in the collection.
