Walled Garden Lace Dishcloth Knitting Pattern

THIS ARTICLE CONTAINS AFFILIATE LINKS THAT SUPPORT HANDY LITTLE ME CONTENT AND FREE PATTERNS.

Looking for a lace dishcloth that feels light, fresh, and calming to knit?

Walled Garden is worked in Mint Green cotton and features a delicate lace texture with little “snow flurry” details scattered across the fabric.

Even though it looks detailed, the pattern is built on a repeating set of rows with simple wrong-side rows in between, so it’s easy to settle into once you’ve worked the first repeat.

The crisp cotton yarn keeps the stitch pattern clear and airy, making this a relaxing project that’s also lovely for gifting.

Inspired by Bridgerton

This pattern is part of my Bridgerton-inspired dishcloth collection, where each design is paired with a cotton yarn shade chosen to match the mood of the series: crisp neutrals, soft pastels, garden greens, and rich jewel tones.

Most of the patterns feature lace textures and easy repeats, making them quick, relaxing projects to knit while you watch the show, and a fun way to learn new stitch patterns as you go.

It’s a simple way to add a little Regency-style charm to everyday knitting.

Before You Get Started

  • Skill Level – Easy (Advanced beginner)
  • This dishcloth is worked flat with garter stitch borders to keep the edges neat.
  • The lace is created with yarn overs and decreases (ssk and k2tog). Taking your time on the first repeat helps a lot—after that, it becomes rhythmic.
  • If you like extra reassurance, you can place stitch markers between pattern repeats across the row.
  • Wet blocking is recommended to open up the lace and square up the finished cloth.

FAQ

Is this lace pattern hard to knit?

It’s very manageable.

The lace rows use basic yarn overs and decreases, and the wrong-side rows are simple, which keeps the pattern feeling calm and repeatable.

Why do my lace holes look uneven while I’m knitting?

That’s completely normal; lace often looks a little messy on the needles.

After washing and blocking, the fabric relaxes, and the holes become much more even and defined.

How do I keep my edges neat?

The K3 edge stitches on both sides help a lot.

Try to keep your first and last stitches consistent and avoid pulling too tightly at the beginning of rows.
