The Fraser Chevron Gloves Knitting Pattern

Inspired by rugged charm and timeless texture, The Fraser Chevron Gloves feature a bold garter stitch chevron design that adds subtle depth and style.

Knit in the round using DK weight yarn and 4mm (US 6) needles, these cozy gloves are perfect for everyday wear or as a heartfelt handmade gift.

Size Information

  • Women’s small/medium/large/extra large. In pattern – S (M, L, XL)
  • Length from wrist to top of hand – Around 9.5 (9.5, 11, 11) inches 24 (24, 28, 28) cm.
  • Width (laying flat) – Around 3 (3.5, 4, 4.5) inches 7.5 (9, 10, 11) cm.
  • Thumb – 2 inches (5 cm).

Gauge – 18 sts /24 rounds in 4 inches/10 cm of garter stitch.

Supplies

Yarn

  • Yarn weight = DK yarn (03) / DK / Light Worsted / 8 Ply.
  • I used 1 x Cascade 220 in the color Walnut Heather 8013. (100g/200m/219yds)

Needles

  • 4 mm (US 6) 9″ or 16″ circular knitting needles.
  • You can use DPNs or the magic loop method.

  • Scissors

  • CO – Cast on
  • BO – Bind off

Pattern Instructions

Both gloves are knit in the round.

Right Glove

  • CO 36, (40, 44, 48) sts, pm and join in the round, being careful not to twist sts.
  • Divide the sts evenly across your needles.
  • You may need to use the magic loop technique to knit these gloves in the round on circular needles.

Work in the following pattern:

Round 1: [P2, K2] x 2, P1, [K2, P2] x 2, K 19, (23, 27, 31) sts.

Round 2: P1, K2, P2, K2, P3, K2, P2, K2, P1, K 19, (23, 27, 31) sts.

Round 3: [K2, P2] x 2, K1, [P2, K2] x 2, K 19, (23, 27, 31) sts.

Round 4: K1, P2, K2, P2, K3, P2, K2, P2, K1, K 19, (23, 27, 31) sts.

Work rounds 1-4 until the piece measures around 7 (7, 8, 8) inches/18 (18, 20, 20 cm), or your desired length.

Thumb Hole

  • Round 1: [P2, K2] x 2, P1, [K2, P2] x 2, PM, M1L, K1, M1R, PM, K 18, (22, 26, 30) sts. (38, 42, 46, 50) sts.
  • Round 2: P1, K2, P2, K2, P3, K2, P2, K2, P1, SM, K3, SM, K 18, (22, 26, 30) sts.
  • Round 3: [K2, P2] x 2, K1, [P2, K2] x 2, SM, M1L, K3, M1R, SM, K 18, (22, 26, 30) sts. (40, 44, 48, 52 sts)
  • Round 4: K1, P2, K2, P2, K3, P2, K2, P2, K1, SM, K5, SM, K 18, (22, 26, 30) sts.
  • Round 5: [P2, K2] x 2, P1, [K2, P2] x 2, SM, M1L, K5, M1R, SM, K 18, (22, 26, 30) sts. (42, 46, 50, 54 sts)
  • Round 6: P1, K2, P2, K2, P3, K2, P2, K2, P1, SM, K7, SM, K 18, (22, 26, 30) sts.
  • Round 7: [K2, P2] x 2, K1, [P2, K2] x 2, remove marker and place 12 sts onto a stitch holder (remove marker), pick up and knit 1 st, and K to the end of the round. (43, 47, 51, 55 sts) in total, including the 12 sts on the stitch holder.
  • Round 8: K1, P2, K2, P2, K3, P2, K2, P2, K1, K 14 (18, 22, 26) sts.

Hand

  • Work in the following stitch pattern until the piece measures 2.5 (2.5, 3, 3) inches/ 6 (6, 8, 8) cm from the thumb hole or until your desired length.
  • Round 1: [P2, K2] x 2, P1, [K2, P2] x 2, K 14 (18, 22, 26) sts.
  • Round 2: P1, K2, P2, K2, P3, K2, P2, K2, P1, K 14 (18, 22, 26) sts.
  • Round 3: [K2, P2] x 2, K1, [P2, K2] x 2, K 14 (18, 22, 26) sts.
  • Round 4: K1, P2, K2, P2, K3, P2, K2, P2, K1, K 14 (18, 22, 26) sts.
  • Bind off loosely.

Thumb

  • Place the 12 sts from the stitch holder onto the needles.
  • Pick up and knit 1 st from the CO edge.
  • Knit every round until the thumb measures 2 inches (5 cm).
  • Cast off loosely.

Making up

  • Weave in any loose ends.
  • Place a stitch or two if there is a gap beside the base of the thumb.

  • Round 4: K 18, (22, 26, 30) sts, SM, K5, SM, K1, P2, K2, P2, K3, P2, K2, P2, K1.
  • Round 5: K 18, (22, 26, 30) sts, SM, M1L, K5, M1R, [P2, K2] x 2, P1, [K2, P2] x 2. (42, 46, 50, 54 sts)

  • Round 8: K 14 (18, 22, 26) sts, P2, K2, P2, K3, P2, K2, P2, K1.
