This crochet produce bag pattern is really easy for beginners.
Not only for produce, but it can also be used for many things, from storing small toys to bathroom items.
Made in 100% cotton, the bag is durable, yet soft and can be open and closed with a drawstring.
A Drawstring Bag You Can Use For Many Things!
The crochet drawstring bag can work up really fast and you can do so much with it.
You could even adjust the pattern to make it smaller or larger depending on your purpose.
The bag can be used for baby items on the go as well as for storing items in the home (not just produce).
Make Your Own Reusable Produce Bags
While we are all trying hopefully to use less plastic and have less waste in general, the little things really can help.
Going to the market nearly every day and collecting plastic or paper produce bags that end up going into the recycling is not the way forward.
Taking along your own reusable produce bags to the market can make a great difference.
- If you weigh your fruit and vegetables in bags when you are at the market, this bag will add a little weight.
- But if like me you weigh them without any bag, then this will be a good option.
- For more expensive items, it would be a good idea to weigh without the bag.
Make A Drawstring Bag For Your Crochet or Knitting Projects
If you don’t want to have them rolling about in your basket loose taking your own reusable fruit and veggie bags is a great idea!
Plus, if like me you get your lemons from your neighbour’s tree, even better to just pop a few in the bag.
Not just for fruit, the cotton drawstring bag can be used for a number of things.
Some ideas:
- Storing toys
- Bathroom/toiletries/personal items
- Baby items
- For travel – underwear/socks/sandals/flip flops
- Crochet or knitting project bag
Knitting project bags or crochet project bags are always needed if you have many different WIPs on the go!

sc the sides together on both sides of the bag.
Secure the yarn and weave in any loose ends.
The Drawstring
In the same colour yarn or a coordinating colour –
Make a slip knot and ch 110, cut yarn and secure through the last loop.
Thread the darning needle and thread the chain through the top part of the bag – around 1 inch from the top of the bag.
When both ends are hanging from one side of the bag, put a knot at one end and in the thread left hanging too.
Now you will be able to pull the drawstring to close the bag and to open it out again.
